Hachi-ju-hachi-ya refers to the 88th day from the first day of spring in the traditional Japanese calendar, and it falls on about May 1 – May2. The tea made from the leaves picked around this day is called “Shincha (New tea)”, and its taste and aroma are excellent in taste and aroma. Shincha has been treasured since for very long time as a proverb says, “Shincha picked on Hachi-ju-hachi-ya gives you a long life”. For Yokota-en’s Hachi-ju-hachi-ya Sencha, the leaves picked around Hachi-ju-hachi-ya are carefully processed with the Fukamushi (Deep-steamed) method.
